Babies, Handbags, and Very Slow Weeks

Hello Everyone!

So this week was slow. We taught like... five lessons. Super slow. But it was also really good, sister Chen and I are back together and constantly sassing each other about how 'terrible' it is that we have a whole other transfer together. Just companions forever! It really is so funny. The best part is that we are both just so tired all the time so whenever we have a dinner or lunch at home the standard question is: "So what do you want to eat?" and then the answer is always "Sleep." It's funny because in Chinese dumplings and sleep are very similar sounding words... therefore occasionally we have dumplings and then we sleep.

Anyways, we cleaned the apartment this week, we prepared a Christmas video of all the members this week, we had the Christmas party this week, we did a ton of service helping prepare for that party this week, we got snowed on.. a lot this week, and we found two new investigators.

So even though we didn't teach very many lessons... it was a very, very busy week. We also had a ton of good food too because they won't let you do service in this ward unless they get to feed you too so that was delicious.

I think my favorite part about Sunday was overhearing one of the members saying: "Baby? You wanted me to get your baby? I thought you said bag! There is a big difference between handbag and baby!" (For all you non-chinese speakers Bao1-bao1 both first tones is bag and Bao3 bao3 is baby) Don't worry the baby was fine... He was just sleeping in his carrier alone in the chapel for a few minutes, until some primary kids found him and freaked out because there was a baby just sitting there asleep and they called the ward mission leader who called us who finally found the father teaching piano in one of the rooms. Hence the sentence. It was great.

Also as kind of an add on to that paragraph... The hardest thing about serving in a family ward is not being able to hold the adorable Chinese babies! Who's rule was this anyways!

The Christmas party was fantastic. It was great and the food was great and the presentations were great and all was well! And then the toilet broke that night and the plumber had to come in on Sunday to fix it but that was okay the party itself was great!

Also those two new one of them is a girl named Iris she's so sweet! She came to church this Sunday and was part of the program on Saturday's party. We're very hopeful for her. The other one was Alwin, who goes to a different church but the lesson 1 was fabulous! We were saying the prayer and sister Chen forgot his name, and so I whisper. "Alwin" And she was like "Alwin" and he was all like. "Amen." We very rarely meet Chinese people who know how to pray already so we had a good laugh about that.

Life is good the gospel is true. I think the biggest thing I learned this week was that God is looking out for everyone and is preparing people little by little. You will never know how your example is effecting the people around you. This is the time for us to prepare to meet God and we'll keep preparing ourselves little by little.

I love you all! Merry Christmas!

-Sister Skinner

PS. I think I've gotten more presents here from the members then I ever have before... They are so SWEET!!!
